RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. Participants are required to register personally at designated sports retail outlets and participating Community Clubs/Centres.

2. Once the registration form has been duly processed, there will be no refund of entry fees for those participants whoeventually do not take part for whatever reason.

3. All participants are responsible for their own safety during the event. All participants must observe traffic regulations. The Organizer shall not be liable for any damages resulting from injuries, whether fatal or otherwise, of any participant or for damages to or loss of such person's property.

4. Competitive participants are required to report half hour prior the race start time.

5. Collection of Bibs will be held on 21 and 22 February 2009, from 10.00am to 8.00pm at Sengkang Community Club, 2 Sengkang Square #01-01 (next to Compasspoint Mall) Tel No: 6312 5400. There will be no extension of bibs collection date.

6. Participants must have their number tags properly secured by 4 safety pins and prominently displayed at the front of their running vest. Participants without number tags will be disqualified from the competition. No running with bare torso is allowed.

7. The Organizer reserves the right to remove any participant deemed physically incapable of continuing with the race to prevent him/her from causing greater harm and injury to himself/herself.

8. Participants must run on the designated path for the entire route. Failure to do so may result in disqualification.

9. The Organizer reserves the right to limit and refuse entries without assigning any reasons.

10. Goodies Bags will be distributed at 9.00am at the Goodies distribution booth.

11. In the event of inclement weather, the Organizer reserves the right to delay the commencement of the event. Should the inclement weather persist after delay, the Organizer reserves the right to cancel the race without any refund of entry fees already paid.

12. Please note that Storage/Baggage facilities are available at the event at a charge of $1.00.

13. Failure to observe the Rules and Regulations shall result in disqualification and no refund will be given.

14. The Organizer reserves the right to use any photographs, motion pictures, recordings, or any other record of this event and of participants for any legitimate purpose, including commercial advertising.

15. The Organizer reserves the right to amend the Rules and Regulations without giving prior notification or any reason thereof.

SENGKANG RIVERSIDE PARK
As part of the URA Master Plan announced by Minister For National Development, Mr. Mah Bow Tan on 21 May 2008, Singapore will have more parks, water bodies, green spaces for our residents to use.

Our soon to be be totally completed Sengkang Riverside Park is conveniently located behind the latest Anchorvale SSC sports complex near Sengkang West. There are 3 parks in all that makes up the Sengkang Riveside Park.

Sengkang Riveside Park has almost 3 to 4 km of challenging terrain for joggers as well as ponds and viewing points for the Punggol River.Exciting activities are being planned for in the near future. This park will also form part of the running route for the Newton Active Run 2009.

When will the NEWTON ACTIVE RUN 2009 be held?

Where will the NEWTON ACTIVE RUN 2009 be held?
The start/end point for the race will be at the Sengkang Central open field near Farmway LRT station and Anchorvale CC.

How many Race Categories are there?
There are 2 main categories - Competitive 10km run and 5km Fun Run.



What Time does each Race start?



Is there a cut-off time for the Race?
Yes, the race cut-off time is 0930hrs.

If I did not complete the race in the stipulated time-frame, will I be entitled to the finisher's certificate?
Yes, the finisher's certificate is given out together with goodies bag and it is for all categories.

Will there be an official photographer?
Yes, we will have photographers in the start/end point as well as the route.

Can I skate or cycle during the race instead?
No. Anyform of exercise on skate or bicycles are strictly forbidden.

Can I bring along my pets?
No pets are allowed on the race route.

What is the Race Kit?
The Race Kit includes: Race number tag (BIB) and Timing Chip.
The Race Kit is exclusively for Competitive Categories, Fun Runners are not required to wear BIB and timing chip.

Where and when is the NEWTON ACTIVE RUN 2009 race kit collection point?
There will be RACE EXPO for race kit collection at Sengkang CC - 2 Sengkang Square (Next to Sengkang MRT Station).
Collection time: 10am-8pm on 21-22 February 2009.

Can I ask my friend to collect the Race Kit on my behalf?
Yes, he/she will need to bring an authorization letter as well as the official registration receipt.
Is there a baggage deposit area at the start?
Yes, however there is nominal fee of $1,- for this baggage service.

Will there be course markers along the race route?
Yes, course markers will be indicated along the route.

How will my race timing be recorded?
All competitive runners will be timed using Chip Timing, a state-of-the-art electronic timing system that capable of providing the most accurate race time.
Thus, all competitive runners must ensure that their Chips are securely strapped to their shoes.

How can I access my personal race result after the event?
Results will be posted online.

Will there be an award ceremony?
All winners will be presented with their respective awards following their race on the race day.

Will there be finisher's medals?
Finisher's medal will be awarded to the 10 top runners for each 10KM competitive categories.

What if I am injured/not feeling well during the race or otherwise unable to finish the race?
Participants are to approach the First-Aider or Route Marshall for assistance.

When is the registration closing date?
The closing date for registration is on Saturday, 31st January 2009.
However, the organising committee reserves the right to close the registration earlier should participation rate reaches our capacity.

How will I know if my entry has been accepted?
The lower portion of the registration form serves as the official receipt. It will be stamped/signed by retail/CC counter staff and to be retained by participants. This official receipt must be produced for collection of The Race Kit for competitive runners and the goodies bag for Fun Runners. Competitive runners' BIB will serve as proof upon collection of goodies bag.
Receipts not signed/stamped are not proof of registration.

Do I get a refund if I choose not to participate after registration?
No.

Can I change race categories after I have registered?
No.

If I am non-passion card member, will I get a free passion card membership?
Yes, you will be given a 3 years free membership. Passion Card will be mailed to your registered address.

What are the prizes for this year's Competitive Categories?
The following is the list of prizes for all 10KM competitive categories:
1st prize $300 cash + $400 worth of product/voucher + medal
2nd prize $200 cash + $300 worth of product/voucher + medal
3rd prize $100 cash + $200 worth of product/voucher + medal
4th - 10th $100 worth of product/voucher + medal

Where are the First Aid Stations?
First-Aiders will be stationed along the route as well as at the start/end point.

Where are the Water Stations?
The water stations are located at the regular marking along the route.

Is there transportation before and after the event?
Yes, there will be shuttle bus service before the race from Sengkang MRT station to race site at regular intervals from 0645hrs - 0715hrs. No transport will be provided after the race.

Note:
Private transport: As heavy vehicular traffic is expected, you are advised not to drive due to limited parking lots at the nearby HDB carpark.
